Hello there! I'm Riley, a makeup artist and creative dabbler. Welcome to Plucky Charm! I started my career a little over 2 years ago as a makeup artist and product consultant at Sephora. It was there that I found my passion for makeup and beauty products. What better way to get my feet wet than providing makeup consultations all day, everyday! I had a great opportunity to use makeup on a full spectrum of face shapes, features, and skin types. What a wonderful learning experience! I loved the time I spent at Sephora and was able to procure a pretty extensive makeup kit (nice bonus, right?!). Since then, I've been doing freelance makeup work for brides, portraits, and the like. I decided to start Plucky Charm a few months ago, and here we are!
I am so excited to FINALLY have this blog up and running! I have been trying to get the ball rolling for weeks and yesterday inspiration struck. My plan was to use this space as a means to showcase some of the makeup projects I've been working on as of late, but I'm realizing that it will be more fun to have it as an outlet for all things cool, creative, and inspiring. And so it shall be.
That being said, yesterday I was at Barnes and Noble thumbing through the most recent issue of Lucky Magazine, and saw a beautiful picture of the actress Lily Collins. I've always felt she is the poster child for classic beauty with her Audrey Hepburn-esque features, but the girl can rock some funky fresh makeup looks as well. I thought it would be fun to use one of her timeless beauty looks as the inspiration for a makeup project I was planning to do with my good friend, Torill.
Not only is Torill a stunner, but she is so lively, fun, and spunky that I thought she would be the perfect face for my blog debut. Plucky Charm is all about the balance of pluck, that little bit of edge and spunk, happily combined with charm, the inviting and feminine. Torill is the embodiment of both and I am thrilled she agreed to collaborate on this project with me.
Torill is lovely without a stitch of makeup, but we thought it would be fun to get her a little glammed up in the Lily Collins style.
This was the look we chose for our Lily Collins inspiration. What a beauty!
Before the action started. I covet that perfect skin!
How beautiful is she?!
